Prepare yourself for a rewarding career as a health and wellness coach with the only NBHWC-approved training program offered in partnership with the National Wellness Institute! As a coach, you will guide individuals during their transformative journey of achieving lasting changes and enhanced well-being by helping them overcome hurdles, surpass limitations, and tap into their own unrealized personal and professional potential.

NBHWC Approved Training Program

The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching has qualified the UW-Stevens Point and National Wellness Institute Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate program as an Approved Training Program per the NBHWC’s standards. As a result, health and wellness coaches who have met NBHWC’s requirements and completed UWSP’s Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate Program will qualify to sit for the national exam to become a certified coach.

Our program graduates have a 100% pass rate for the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching certification exam.

Choose from Two Options for Taking this Course
  1. Complete this program for continuing education credits (up to 80 total CECs*)
  2. Complete this program for graduate credit (12 credits)**

Both options meet the standards of the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) and equally prepare you to sit for the NBHWC exam.

2023 Summer Program Schedule (accelerated 16-week program)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2023.

  • May 17 – June 8: Building Expertise in Health and Wellness
  • ​June 13 – July 6: Health and Wellness Coaching Foundations
  • July 11 – Aug. 3: Advanced Health and Wellness Coaching Techniques
  • Aug. 9 – Aug. 31: Health and Wellness Coaching Ethics and Practicum

All summer program courses meet via Zoom Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. CT.

**Note: The summer session is only available for continuing education credit. If you want to earn graduate credit, you must enroll in the school-year program.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is considered the birthplace of wellness, establishing the first college degree wellness program in the world. UW-Stevens Point became the first degree program in the U.S. to be accredited by the National Wellness Institute in 2010. The National Wellness Institute was founded at UW-Stevens Point and they still maintain a close relationship.
